6. Conclusion
The different generations of organic light-emitting diodes presented in this article show the evolution of these new techniques for display and lighting, and highlight the different modes of operation and energy transfer in these devices. All these examples, even if they are not all state-of-the-art, demonstrate the importance of choosing, for each type of diode (OLED, PhOLED, TADF-OLED or OLED-hyperfluorescent), the SCO(s) making up the device whose properties are best suited to achieving a high-performance device.
The future of organic light-emitting diodes lies in their low manufacturing costs, low power consumption, long operating life and low recycling costs (reducing the ecological footprint), as much as in their efficiency.
