13. Glossary
supersaturation; supersaturation
State of a solution containing a quantity of dissolved substance greater than that corresponding to the solubility limit of the crystallized substance. Dissolution of the amorphous form of a substance can lead to supersaturation, enabling high concentrations to be obtained in solution.
amorphous solid dispersion; Amorphous Solid Dispersion (ASD)
In the pharmaceutical field, amorphous, solid, single-phase, two-component PA-polymer systems. In this glassy solid solution, the PA molecules are dispersed in the amorphous polymer matrix to give a mixture that is statistically homogeneous at the molecular level.
co-amorphous; co-amorphous system
Homogeneous amorphous solid dispersion of a PA molecule and another "small" (non-polymeric) molecule....
