Jerky sliding; stick-slip
Vibration induced by friction in the tangential direction, characterized by a succession of sticking and sliding phases and induced by a difference between static and dynamic friction.
Arc-boutement; sprag-slip
Frictional instability in the tangential direction caused by mechanical coupling between the normal and tangential directions.
Mode coupling; coupling mode
Friction-induced vibration characterized by a vibratory mode in two directions with geometric and frictional coupling.
Vibrations induites par le frottement; friction induced vibration
These are vibrations generated by the relative movement of the two elements in contact.
