5. Universal approach for different friction vibration scenarios

Comparing the presentations of the three mechanisms that generate frictional vibrations, jerky slip, arc-boutement and mode coupling, we can see that the mechanical models have many points in common: use of tangential stiffnesses, degrees of freedom in the direction of friction with enrichments in the friction laws (for jerky slip) or in the degrees of freedom (mode coupling).
