2. Protective products

2.1 Major classes of protectors

There is a wide variety of temporary protection products, each adapted either to a type of protection, an application method or a disposal method. It's difficult to separate all these products into distinct types, as they often move seamlessly from one to another: we'll see that between an oil and a grease varnish, for example, there can be a whole series of intermediate products. We will, however, distinguish the following classes:

  • OILS ;

  • solvent-based coatings ;

  • water-based products ;

  • protective greases or vaselines ;

  • peelable varnishes ;
