2.1 Molten metal corrosion

Molten metals are used for their good heat transfer properties: high thermal conductivity and capacity, and low vapor pressure. They are found as heat exchangers in nuclear reactors (e.g. liquid sodium cooling circuits) or in heat treatment baths (lead baths) . Molten metals can also be found in galvanized, tin-plated or aluminized steel production lines, where the steel strip runs through a bath of liquid zinc, tin or aluminum, respectively.
