3. Conclusion
The examples presented in this article show that the corrosion of metals and alloys at high temperatures is largely modified by the presence of solid deposits, liquid metals and molten salts. These modifications cannot be dealt with in the same way, as each situation presents a different kind of complexity. Only by considering the mechanisms involved in each case can an acceptable technological solution be approached. However, as we have seen, the aggressive environments concerned are very often evolving, and the choice of materials must go hand-in-hand with process control work to anticipate, contain and, if possible, control changes in corrosion conditions.
