11. Special environments

11.1 Irradiation

There is little literature on the subject. Tests have been carried out in autoclaves with a cobalt-60 source in basaltic waters . Corrosion of grades 2 and 12 increases with gamma irradiation, probably due to higher hydrogen absorption, but remains at acceptable levels.
