6. Other ageing mechanisms
Apart from the environmental conditions of temperature and humidity, other aging mechanisms such as UV radiation, erosion and biodegradation can influence the long-term behavior of CMOs.
The behavior of CMOs can also be altered by the presence of fluids (solvents, hydrocarbons... paints), which have a specific action that is all the more marked the greater the affinity of the product with the CMO matrix (close solubility coefficients), resulting in swelling that can be damaging. The solubility and diffusion of these products in CMO is studied in a similar way to the action of water (see 5.2
