5.1.1 Heating of solid particles by the gas

This heating is the result of convective heat exchange between the hot gas and the particle surface, and conductive heat transfer within each particle. It therefore depends on the convective exchange coefficient and the physical characteristics of the solid. With the exception of the nozzle zone, heat transfer by radiation can be neglected under blast furnace conditions.
