4. Operation and maintenance

4.1 Monitoring and controls

Monitoring and controls can be summarized in 6 main phases; the lifespan of the furnace, which can reach 12 to 15 years, depends on the respect of these stages:

  • daily monitoring of electricity consumption, particularly during the weekend;

  • daily monitoring of the electrical power absorbed by the inductor and the oven;

  • weekly maintenance of liquid metal inlet and outlet traps;

  • weekly temperature checks on the furnace casing ;

  • monthly cleaning of bath surface ;

  • annual inspection of coating by infrared thermography.
