9. Recycling molding materials

Sand casting generally requires the use of more sand than liquid metal, with the ratio of sand to liquid metal varying from 1 to 15.

There is therefore an obvious interest in recycling molding materials as much as possible: firstly, economically, as the purchase and transportation of sand represent major expense items, and secondly, ecologically, as the disposal of used sand is subject to ever greater constraints 10
