7.1 BRIEF Foundry
The IED Directive (2008/1/EC) defines at European level an integrated approach to the prevention and reduction of pollution emitted by industrial installations falling within its scope. One of its guiding principles is the use of Best Available Techniques (BAT) to prevent pollution of all kinds . It requires Member States to base permit conditions for the installations concerned on BAT performance
