2. Spinning conditions and possibilities

2.1 General

A large number of factors govern the spinning conditions of aluminum alloys. These factors depend on the following four elements.

  • The alloy itself:

    • ability to deform by extrusion ;

    • resistance to deformation ;

    • critical quenching speed (for press quenching) ;

    these factors being conditioned by the alloy's composition and its state of homogenization before spinning.

  • Wiring installation:

    • press power and dimensions ;
