3. Metallurgical aspects of spinning
The metallurgical aspects of aluminum and alloy extrusion are extremely important, as they determine the structure and, consequently, all the properties of the products obtained. These metallurgical aspects derive from a large number of parameters:
some of which are inherent to the spinning operation itself, and also to all the operations that can be carried out during or after spinning: figure 26 (p. 18) gives a general overview of what is commonly referred to as the spinning cycle;
others depend on the alloy and its composition in particular.
