1. Material fatigue
Depending on the nature of the operating conditions, fatigue cracks can be classified into two mechanisms: Thermo-Mechanical Fatigue and High Cycle Fatigue. Wöhler curves or S-N curves (Stress – Number of cycles) are used to design parts for fatigue loading. These curves are defined for each type of material.
