Since the 1990s, EBSD has become an indispensable tool in most materials research laboratories for correlating microstructure and texture. This correlation is essential to better understand the mechanisms of deformation, restoration, recrystallization, phase transformations, deposit formation, etc. in metallic and non-metallic materials (geological materials, etc.), from the moment they are crystalline.
As a result, numerous examples are now available to prove, if proof were still needed, the value of such an approach.
Here, we have chosen examples to illustrate a number of application areas, from deformation to grain growth and recrystallization for metallic materials.
