1. Ground movements

The term "ground movement" is generally used to designate a displacement of the ground caused directly by gravity, and does not include vibratory ground movements caused by earthquakes or mine blasts, for example. Ground movements can be caused by slopes (slope movements) or by the presence of underground voids (collapses and subsidence).

For slope movements, we will base ourselves on the recommendations given by the Technical Committee on Slope Movements (JTC1), a joint body of the International Societies of Soil Mechanics and Geotechnics (ISSMGE), Rock Mechanics...
