6. Measurement processing and interpretation

6.1 Detecting faults in the monitoring system

The measurement results must undergo a validation phase. To this end, a device failure detection strategy is implemented. This type of strategy is described in detail in a report on the European MoDeRn (Monitoring Developments for Safe Repository Operation and Stage Closure) project, which aims to develop methods and techniques for monitoring geological repositories. .

Several types of failure can be identified, and means of detecting them are proposed (table 1 ).
