10. Standards and recommendations
As mentioned in the introduction, the use of air lime in civil engineering is subject to compliance with the European Construction Products Directive. Among other things, this requires the product to comply with standard NF EN 459: Building Lime.
Standard NF EN 459 is divided into 3 parts:
part 1: Definition, specifications and conformity criteria ;
part 2: Test methods ;
part 3: Conformity assessment.
This is an approved French standard which incorporates a European standard drawn up on the basis of mandate M 114 issued to CEN, concerning the harmonized standardization of cements, building limes and other hydraulic binders.
