8. Conclusion

The development of uncooled infrared detection technologies has revolutionized infrared imaging, offering detectors and therefore systems at increasingly affordable prices. As a result, new applications are emerging, and the growing market is driving further research into the development and production of even easier-to-use, higher-performance detectors at ever-lower prices.

Studies are focused on reducing pixel size, either to reduce the size of the focal plane and therefore that of the system, or to increase spatial resolution by increasing the number of pixels. Reading circuits are also evolving, incorporating more and more functions designed to facilitate their use or enhance their performance.
