4. Outlook

The topic of metamaterials has been the subject of considerable research effort since it was first proposed some ten years ago. This trend is continuing, with studies moving in the direction of applications.

In the field of microwaves, technological solutions are sufficiently mature to lead to technology transfers, proposed in particular by the Cimitec center attached to the Autonomous University of Barcelona, or even integration into consumer systems such as those developed by Rayspan.

In the field of optics, many current studies point to a convergence between the evolution of technologies and the generalization of concepts.
