Quantum box; Quantum dots
Inorganic semiconductor material capable of absorbing energy in a certain energy range defined by the material's gap. The semiconductor can absorb energy equal to or greater than its gap energy. The absorbed photon will first de-excite, returning to the conduction band, and then, by photon emission, return to the valence band.
Stokes shift
Shift in wavelength or frequency between the position of the absorption spectrum peak and the luminescence peak of the same electronic transition.
