2. Some applications of Gaussian beams

2.1 Dynamic laser phototherapy

Using laser beams for photodynamic therapy (PDT) enables more targeted interaction between light and living organisms . Photodynamic therapy (PDT) combines the action of a non-toxic substance with a light beam to generate imaged fluorescent radiation to aid diagnosis or, better still, to create a toxic substance for the treatment of specific infections. PDT is currently used to treat localized conditions in oncology and ophthalmology.
