6. Interior features

The way in which natural light interacts with interior surfaces has a considerable influence on the availability of daylight, as well as on the distribution of luminance in the visual field.

Influential criteria include :

  • wall photometry ;

  • the geometry of the suspended ceiling ;

  • the presence of furniture.

6.1 Clear walls

One of the simplest actions in a renovation project is to change the interior coverings. The use of light colors can change the impression of brightness and significantly increase light levels at the back of the room.
