1. Young's modulus, modulus of rigidity and Poisson's ratio
In the following tables, numbered 1 to 14 , we have reported the values of three elasticity coefficients, Young's modulus E , modulus of rigidity G or Coulomb's modulus and Poisson's ratio σ . In fact, as we have already noted, only two of these coefficients are independent; the third can be calculated using the relationships in the article Effect of high and very high pressure , and the adiabatic compression modulus B s . Generally speaking, Poisson's ratio varies between 0.25 and 0.35 for most materials, and is equal to 0.5 for elastomers. The modulus of rigidity G will therefore be between 0.4 E and 0.33 E .
