4. General problems with homemade cosmetic recipes

4.1 The problem of identifying the recipe's author

Out of 150 blogs offering homemade cosmetics recipes, the authors can be perfectly identified by surname and first name in 55% of cases. Just over 35% of the authors of these blogs hide behind a pseudonym, and less than 10% are completely anonymous. With just one exception, all the bloggers are women. As can be seen, blogging is mostly a solo activity, with only five of the 150 blogs studied being run by two people. Level of education, when mentioned, is representative of the French national average.
