1.1 Definition of micro and macroemulsions

Some natural substances and many man-made products are non-miscible liquid-liquid dispersed systems stabilized by a surfactant. They are grouped together under the generic term of emulsions, to which a prefix such as macro, micro, mini or nano is often added, according to ill-defined criteria .
