Polymers are incorporated into cosmetic formulas to :
form films ;
to control the rheology of cosmetic products, i.e. to act as a thickener, to give a feel with good compatibility of the formula's constituents... ;
stabilize emulsions ;
make the film adhere to the various surfaces of the human body (skin, lips, nails, eyelashes, hair, etc.);
play on skin hydration once the film has formed;
encapsulate active ingredients to modulate their bioavailability;
create special visual effects.
The solution generally adopted is to blend several polymers, playing on the advantages of each and creating synergies....
