The large number of degrees of freedom augurs both difficulties in understanding and predicting the behavior of foams, but also possibilities for solving convoluted and even paradoxical problems. While established knowledge can be relatively organized under a general phenomenological approach, as we have tried to show here, the formulator has to show ingenuity to find the optimal solution in each case or to innovate in the face of a new challenge.
In any case, and because it is often very difficult to judge the relative importance of the various phenomena likely to play a role, it is always advisable to provide experimental verification in support of any reasoning and deduction, even the most rash.
