The success of innovations in the field of cosmetic active ingredient extraction, in terms of discovery, intensification and sustainability, is the result of the accumulation of academic and industrial know-how in the fields of physics, biology, process engineering and natural product chemistry. Eco-extraction" of cosmetic active ingredients is a new concept that meets the challenges of the 21st century: protecting the environment and consumers. In this eco-extraction approach, the concept of eco-extract could be introduced. It would be an extract obtained and marketed in such a way as to be the fruit of an entire value chain in both senses of the term: economic and eco-responsible. This chain would begin with harvesting, continue through the transformation, extraction and separation processes, and end with the formulation and marketing stages.
