5. Conclusion

Thanks to the development of electrodes such as BDDs, the application of advanced electro-oxidation to water treatment has become more competitive with other advanced oxidation processes, particularly for the treatment of refractory or toxic organic matter in high concentrations contained in salt-laden effluents.

Current developments concern :

  • the development of new multifunctional electrodes that are less expensive and/or more stable over time (e.g. niobium-doped rutile NDR Ti 1-x Nb x O 2 with x between 0 and 0.8, Ti/BDD)
