6. Multiphase reactor applications

In addition to characterizing the flow of phases in multiphase reactors, residence time distribution enables us to determine the retention rate for each phase, provided we have a precise measurement of phase flow. To do this, it is necessary to carry out a DTS on each phase, and above all to ensure that the tracer used does not transfer from one phase to another. By calculating the average residence time in each phase, it is possible to determine the volume drained by each phase using the relationship :
