3. Conclusion
Since the industrial development of ion exchange in the mid-twentieth century, numerous applications have been developed, not only for water treatment, but also for many other liquids. Table 3 shows just under a hundred, but the list continues to grow. Application techniques are varied, sometimes requiring complex installations. Resin manufacturers create few totally new products, but are constantly improving existing ones to increase their effectiveness in terms of the quality of the liquids treated and the reduction of waste volumes.
