Adsorbent resin; adsorbent resin

Non-ionic, highly porous synthetic resins. Many of these resins are macroporous polymers based on divinylbenzene-crosslinked styrene.

Amphoteric; amphotère

A resin that acts as both an acid and a base. An amphoteric resin has the properties of both a cation exchanger and an anion exchanger.

Brix (degree); degree Brix

Percentage by mass of sugar (sucrose) in a solution.

Volume load; specific flow rate

Flow in m 3 /h divided by resin volume in m 3 . The volume load is therefore measured in h –1 . In English, we often speak of bed volumes per hour (BV/h)....
