 INTRODUCTION

Chemical kinetics is the study of the speeds of chemical transformations of matter, involved in chemical and material manufacturing processes, thermal or mechanical energy production processes, measurement techniques, interactions between human activity and the environment, and natural phenomena themselves, whether they concern minerals, plants, living beings, the atmosphere or space.

The design, extrapolation and optimal implementation of a chemical or energy process, as well as the prediction of the evolution of natural phenomena, require a mathematical model of the chemical transformation.

This booklet [J 1 100] describes a purely experimental and empirical approach to kinetic modeling, applicable in principle to all classes of reactive systems.

This booklet does not require prior reading of the following booklet [J 1 110] on elementary reactions and reaction mechanisms, which provides a theoretical basis for the empirical kinetic laws presented below.
