1.1 Washing by dilution (or repulping)
The repulping technique, in which one or more solutes from an imbibed solid are passed into solution, is similar to the ideal compartmentalized operations (notably solid-liquid) which are the subject of specialized articles in the present treatise (J 1070 to J 1073). Material balances will not be developed here, as each stage of the plant can be represented by the diagram shown in figure 1 for a counter-current exchange.
