8. Glossary
Chain; chain
All or part of a macromolecule.
Copolymer; copolymer
A polymer made up of macromolecules whose chains contain at least two types of monomer units. Depending on the number of different monomer units, a copolymer is said to be binary, ternary, etc.
Statistical copolymer; statistic copolymer
Copolymer made up of macromolecules in which the sequential distribution of monomer units obeys known statistical laws.
Homopolymer; homopolymer
A polymer made up of macromolecules whose chains contain only one type of monomer unit.
Latex; latex
Colloidal-sized polymer particles dispersed in the continuous phase and stabilized by a surfactant.
