4. Local payment

Smart cards are particularly well suited to convenience payments. In fact, the bankcard is a secure and practical means of providing the merchant with bank account information and proving identity in relation to that account. The merchant is equipped with a POS (Point-of-Sale Terminal) which verifies that the customer/consumer has typed in the correct PIN (Personal Identification Number) and is therefore the owner of the card.
