1. Introducing XML

Note :

the term "language" used in the XML acronym (literally: "extensible markup language") can lead to confusion, as XML is not a programming language. The syntactic rules in fact define a metalanguage, which makes it possible to define specific markup systems, and therefore specific data representation languages.
