3. Website design specifics

The ideas, methods, techniques and rules presented above apply to any type of hypermedia document, and in particular to the Web [14] . However, document design for the Web has its own specific characteristics, which we will now examine.

This article does not deal with aspects relating to access to computer applications via the Web, such as consulting databases on the server site or using Java to run processes on the client machine (applets). These aspects are covered elsewhere.
