2. Design methods for hypermedia documents
This section outlines a method for designing hypermedia documents.
A hypermedia document is seen here as the enhancement of a set of available information by reorganizing its structure to adapt it to an identified reading task, targeted at a given set of readers, and respecting the cognitive constraints that govern the exchange of information between a document and a human being.
The guideline of this method leads to :
characterize the data to be enhanced ;
characterize the reading task for which they are intended;
deduce a navigation model adapted to this task and respecting the related cognitive constraints;
build a model for presenting and interacting with information.
