8.1 Android and iOS
The world of mobile devices (and its market) is more concentrated and profitable than that of Web services. It's also a closed world, which not only allows the vendor to impose its own rules and security measures, but also to make substantial investments in system security, including systematic encryption of data carriers and communications, and process compartmentalization.
Google is making an official SDK (Soft-ware Development Kit) available to aspiring Android developers, containing the libraries needed to access the system's various components. The development language is Java, compiled into Smali intermediate code and executed, after translation into native machine code, in the Android RunTime environment (ART for short).
