The development and implementation of a free instruction set requires the support of an ever-growing community around :

  • hardware developments ;

  • software development (simulators, debuggers, compilers and libraries, loaders and monitors, operating system kernels, Linux distributions, real-time operating systems, etc.).

A RISC-V foundation was created in 2015. It had in May 2019 more than 250 members ( https://riscv.org/ ) :

  • 13 universities ;

  • 29 consultants and researchers ;

  • 23 firms for software, development tools and cloud ;

  • 104 individual developers...
