 INTRODUCTION

Python is on a roll. Ranked sixth in the TIOBE index and named Language of the Year, it is now a must-have language for developers. Its multi-paradigm aspect and the clarity and expressiveness of its syntax make it the language of choice for a wide range of uses.

This document presents a brief history of Python and its fields of application. It then compares it to other languages and looks at its features and syntax. It concludes with a summary of object programming. A list of references is also available in the For further information [ Doc. H 3 110] .

Nota

the TIOBE index assesses the popularity of programming languages. For further information, please consult the following website http://www.tiobe.com/tpci.htm
