3. Sensors
Generally speaking, the transducer expresses translation and rotation parameters (when it is capable of doing so) in an internal reference frame. The documentation for the sensor in question will provide the user with information on the position and configuration of this reference frame. We'll be looking at sensors classified according to mechanical, electromagnetic, optical and hybrid technologies.
3.1 Mechanical technology
With this type of sensor, there is a permanent mechanical link between the object being tracked and its environment, while leaving the object's degrees of freedom unrestricted.
