6. Usage reports
Throughout the European Community, the legislator requires companies to be able to provide the name of the person who is at the origin of a network access, a fortiori to an HTTP site. Conversely, it does not authorize the deliberate surveillance of a specific person. It is therefore necessary to keep traces of accesses made through the application relay for a period of 12 months. These traces are often only used in legal proceedings.
On the other hand, it is possible to create a usage dashboard showing the most visited sites, the most frequent users of the relay, and so on. While Squid can't do this on its own, it is possible to use third-party software.
For these programs to work, however, an HTTP server (Apache, for example) with an additional PHP software layer is required. Once Apache is up and running, and assuming the WWW site is located...
