5.1 Reinstalling a context

PCP clients use the "Epoch" parameter to detect server-side anomalies.

Example

If the PCP server has been restarted due to an operation by an administrator or a power problem, or if the server has lost its states, etc., the PCP server must reset the "Epoch" parameter to "0". The "Epoch" parameter must also be reset if the address allocated to a client by the function controlled by the PCP server has changed. If an anomaly has been detected by a PCP client, it must immediately reinstall the lost contexts by sending back the corresponding PCP messages.
