3. Signal integrity of electronic boards

Signal Integrity (SI) is defined as an engineering discipline whose objective is to guarantee that on the board designed :

  • signals are transmitted and received correctly with controlled propagation times;

  • the propagation of these signals does not interfere with other signals or with the signals themselves;

  • the amplitude (current, voltage) of the signals does not exceed the limits guaranteed by the component manufacturers.

With this in mind, SI's actions are aimed at :

  • eliminates unwanted signal reflections and minimizes losses;

  • reduction of crosstalk or coupling between signals ;

  • minimization of reference voltage instabilities....
