6. Medium-term outlook

The most representative microsystems are inkjet print heads, read/write heads for hard disks, accelerometers (automotive, medical, navigation aid applications, etc.), pressure sensors, micromirror arrays for video projection and microgyroscopes (navigation aid).

Other emerging markets, such as RF microsystems, optical microsystems and BioMEMS, also promise very strong growth.

Worldwide revenue forecasts for all microsystems markets are shown in the graph in figure 24 .

Forecasts for the biomedical sector, which remains relatively unrepresentative to date, put the expected long-term economic growth at several tens of billions of euros a year.
